The artist

In my art, I strive to explore deep human emotions and solitude through my figurative paintings. My works are known for their atmospheric and enigmatic qualities, using shadow and light to depict subjects in moments of introspection.

My creative process begins with an extensive archive of photographs. I start by painting in a classical style, then apply a unique technique I call Entropy. This involves deconstructing and reconstructing compositions with expressive brushstrokes and traditional oil painting techniques, resulting in layered, textured paintings that mirror the cycle of destruction and renewal, reflecting the complexities of human experience.

A key theme in my work is urban isolation and voyeurism. In my recent "Windows" series, I portray solitary figures in domestic settings, positioning the viewer as an observer. By blurring the lines between public and private spaces, these scenes invite contemplation on shared human experiences of solitude and introspection.

I draw inspiration from the understated paintings of Vilhelm Hammershøi and the films of Ingmar Bergman and Chantal Akerman. These influences are evident in my meticulous compositions and focus on routine and the passage of time. Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window" also significantly impacts my work, using windows as both viewfinders and barriers, adding layers of mystery and introspection.

My paintings are characterized by a subdued palette and careful attention to light and shadow, evoking calm and introspection. The Nordic vernacular, with its emphasis on simplicity and elegance, shapes my aesthetic choices, creating a serene atmosphere that encourages reflection on privacy and the balance between public and private life.

I see my creative process as a quest for the divine, aiming to transcend ordinary life and touch something beyond. Through my paintings, I seek to evoke empathy and connection, finding beauty in quiet, often overlooked moments.

As I continue to push the boundaries of figurative art, my work serves as a powerful reminder of the emotional depth and introspective beauty achievable through fine art. I aim to invite viewers to deeply engage with the subjects' inner worlds and, in turn, their own.
