Presented without glass, the artwork interacts directly with light to enhance its physical presence. The solid oak frame, hand-tinted with Osmo oil, reveals the natural grain with quiet sophistication. This edition represents a harmony of craft and concept, a synthesis of authenticity and technique.

This piece was inspired by my walks through Dulwich, an area renowned for its Mid-Century Modern architecture. When I first entered a 1960s open-plan apartment here in 2023, the generous scale and light captivated me. I felt compelled to capture the unique soul of these buildings.
The title, Morning Joe, plays on the coffee and the man glimpsed in those quiet, early hours. I used a limited palette of complementary colors to ground the scene, creating a sense of balance and focus. My aim was to explore voyeurism without its negative weight, inviting a shared, gentle observation of a private human moment.
A deliberate tension exists in the atmosphere, found in the contrast between soft spring shadows and the more ominous, darker shapes on the glass. Technically, I focused on the friction between the rigid, white window frames and those unpredictable, organic shadows. I’ve always been drawn to how modern spaces can feel both protective and isolating. To me, this figure caught mid-thought perfectly captures that intersection of routine and solitude.
